Online Voting System Using Power BI
Project Objective:
While Power BI is not used to build an online voting system directly, the goal of this project is to analyze and visualize data from an online voting system using Power BI. The system collects voting data (from an external application or database), and Power BI is used to generate interactive dashboards and reports for insights into voter behavior, turnout, and results.
???? Core Features:
1. Data Collection:
- Collect data from an existing online voting platform or simulated dataset
- Data includes:
- Voter ID (anonymized)
- Candidate names
- Total votes
- Voting time & date
- Region/Location of voters
- Voter demographics (age group, gender, etc.)
2. Data Visualization in Power BI:
- Create interactive dashboards and reports, such as:
- ???? Total votes per candidate (bar chart or pie chart)
- ????️ Voting distribution by region (map visual)
- ???? Voter turnout trends over time
- ???? Demographic analysis (age, gender participation)
- ✅ Live results comparison (with filters)
3. Filters & Slicers:
- Add filters for:
- Region
- Date range
- Demographics
- Allow users to explore voting data dynamically
4. Data Source Integration:
- Power BI connects to:
- Excel/CSV files
- SQL database
- Web APIs (if voting system supports it)
????️ Technology Stack:
- Power BI Desktop / Power BI Service
- Excel, SQL, or JSON – as data source
- Power Query & DAX – for data cleaning and transformation
- Optional: Connect to real-time databases for live dashboards
✅ Project Outcome:
- A professional and insightful dashboard that visualizes election results
- Helps in decision-making and transparency by analyzing:
- Voting trends
- Candidate performance
- Regional and demographic breakdowns
- Demonstrates:
- Data storytelling
- Power BI dashboard design
- Analytical thinking in civic tech
