Blockchain + IoT Secure Smart Home
Project Title : Blockchain + IoT Secure Smart Home
Objective:
To design a secure smart home system by integrating IoT devices with blockchain technology to prevent unauthorized access, data tampering, and ensure trusted communication.
Project Summary:
This project creates a smart home environment where various IoT devices (like lights, locks, sensors, and cameras) are connected and controlled via a secure, decentralized network using blockchain. All communication between devices and the user is recorded as immutable transactions on a blockchain ledger. This ensures data integrity, enhances security, and eliminates the risk of a single point of failure.
Key Components:
Hardware: Sensors (motion, door, temperature), actuators (locks, lights), microcontroller (ESP32/Raspberry Pi)
Software: Blockchain platform (like Ethereum, Hyperledger), Smart Contracts, Web/Mobile App
Technologies: IoT, Blockchain, Smart Contracts, MQTT/HTTP
Security Features:
Tamper-proof logs of device activity using blockchain
Role-based access control via smart contracts
Decentralized authentication of devices
Real-time alerts for unusual activity
Applications:
Smart door locks and surveillance
Secure access to home automation
Activity logging for audits
Trusted communication between devices
Outcome:
This project combines the power of IoT with blockchain to enhance home security, privacy, and trust. It showcases how distributed ledgers and smart contracts can protect data in smart environments — a valuable concept for future cybersecurity and IoT systems.
