IoT Smart Inventory Management
Project Title : IoT Smart Inventory Management
Objective:
To build an intelligent inventory management system using IoT that tracks stock levels, automates updates, and reduces manual errors in real-time.
Project Summary:
This project focuses on using IoT devices to monitor inventory in warehouses, retail stores, or supply chains. Sensors like RFID, weight sensors, or IR sensors are installed on shelves or storage units to detect item presence, count stock, and track movement. The data is sent to a cloud server where it's processed and shown on a user-friendly dashboard. This enables real-time stock tracking, low-stock alerts, and automated inventory reports.
Key Components:
Hardware: RFID/IR sensors, weight sensors, microcontroller (ESP8266/Arduino), Wi-Fi/GSM module
Software: Cloud platform (Firebase, ThingsBoard), Inventory dashboard (Web/App), Notification system
Technologies: IoT, Cloud Computing, Data Visualization, Wireless Networking
Features:
Real-time inventory tracking and updates
Low-stock and out-of-stock alerts
Automated restocking notifications
Web/mobile dashboard for inventory status
Historical data and usage trends
Applications:
Retail and supermarket stock monitoring
Warehouse and logistics management
Pharmacy and medical supply tracking
Office or school supply inventory
Outcome:
The project demonstrates how IoT enhances inventory accuracy, reduces human effort, and improves efficiency in stock handling. It prepares students for implementing smart supply chain systems in real-world business environments.
